Unattended Musings
Unattended Musings
A place where unintended thoughts bubble to the surface without supervision.

Earlier this week, while on vacation, I was stunned by a front page USA Today article that described the new Iraqi Prime Minister - Iyad Allawi - as a man who had fled Saddam Hussein's regime, come to the United States, and founded a CIA-funded political group. I was shocked that the American public had become so callous with regard to the insidious acts of our government via the CIA that such information could appear on the front page of a mainstream newspaper.

Apparently, however, I was wrong. The American public is not so callous. In fact, someone was so upset about the article that the article itself seems to have disappeared. I have tried numerous, numerous internet searches, Factiva searches, USA Today archive searches - all with no luck. I should have saved the hard copy, because soft copies are well hidden, if they haven't already been completely destroyed.

USA Today - if you are reading this - what happened to that front page story? Who pressured you to make it disappear?

Everyone else - doesn't this scare you more than a little?
